It creates more opportunities to develop in China. The focus in China is to rise franchised bakery outlets faster than expanding self-operated stores. Thus, there is more possibility to increase the number of stores in China. For threats, the negative publicity could affect its demand and support from regular customers.

The F;B business is licensed in Singapore by the NEA (National Environment Agency). Food safety and hygiene standards must be assembled. In extreme cases of non-compliance, licences could be withdrawn. Health crisis or poor weather such as haze could slow down the business. During Singapore’s haze, businesses were interrupted as consumers were not going out.

External environment refers to the major factors and forces outside the organization that have the potential to significantly affect the performance of an organization. External environment is divided into two parts which are general environment and specific environment.

External environment can significantly influence the effectiveness of an organization to large extent. Specific environment refers to the forces and institutions outside the organization with which an organization interfaces in the course of conducting its business. The specific environment of each organization is unique and changes with conditions. The important constitutes of task environment are; customers, suppliers, competitors and Pressure Groups.

Customers refer to those individual and organizations that purchase its products and services. Bread Talk exists to meet the needs of customers through which they earn large sum of profits. But these customers possess potential uncertainty to an organization success because of their changing tastes, preferences, lifestyle etc. Therefore, various organizations are making efforts to improve the quantity of their products and services, stay close with the customers listen to the customers about their needs etc.

Competitors refer to those organizations that either offer or have a potential to offer rival products or services. It means that not only the existing rivals are threats to the success of organization, but the potential newcomers could be disastrous too. Competitors in term of better pricing, new products, quantity services etc. represent an environmental force that managers must monitor along with the competitive scene for potential newcomers.

Suppliers provide the human, information and financial resources and raw materials that the organization or business uses for production. If a company depends more on one or a few suppliers for essential resources, the higher its dependence on the supplier. Managers seek to reduce supplier dependency. Suppliers normally have low negotiating in the industry as there are a number of them still in existence. Due to the circumstance that resources like flour and wheat do not vary mostly in capacity, across suppliers, this advances barriers supplying negotiating power of the suppliers.
