His misery leaped the seas and was sung in all men's ears: how the monster relished his savage war on the Danes seeking no peace. Though he lived in Herot he never dared to touch king Hrothgar's glorious Throne, protected by God. In his far-off home Beowulf, Higlac's follower and strongest of the Geats-greater and stronger than anyone heard how Grendel filled the night with horror and he quickly commanded a boat fitted out, proclaiming he would sail across the sea to Hrothgar. The omens were good and urged the adventure on. Beowulf took his mightiest men, the bravest and best of the Geats. The wind hurried them over the waves. In the rock-steep cliffs, they quietly ended their voyage. The lieutenant introduced Beowulf to their lord Hrothgar. Beowulf arose with his bravest men surrounding him. After hearing Grendel's name echo throughout their lands Beowulf offers to slay the beast himself. His warriors have seen his strength for themselves, have seen him rise from the darkness of war, dripping with his enemy's blood. Now Grendel and he are called together. Beowulf believes Grendel will do the same as he has done before and plans to kill him. That night Grendel came hoping to kill anyone he could trap on this trip to high Herot. He journeyed forever joyless, straight to the door, and snapped it open. He strode quickly across the inlaid floor, snarling and fierce his eyes gleamed in the darkness. The hall was crowded with warriors. The monster's mind was hot not knowing his fate that night was his last human supper. Humans' eyes were watching him. Grendel snatched at his first Geat, ripped him apart, and drank the blood from his veins. He stepped to another still body, clutched at Beowulf, claws bent back as Beowulf leaned up on one arm. That shepherd of evil once knew he never met a man whose hands were harder: his mind flooded with fear. This trip to Herot was a miserable one for the withering monster. Grendel and Beowulf battles across the gold-covered boards. The Danes started I, new terror, cowering in their beds as the terrible screams of the almighty enemy sang in the darkness, the horrible shrieks of pain and defeat, the turns out Grendel. Grendel saw that his strength was deserting him. He twisted in pain, and the bleeding sinews deep in his shoulder snapped muscle and bone split. Grendel escaped but wounded as he fled to his den he bled out returning to his hole at the bottom of the marsh, only to die. After the battle, the Danes laughed with delight. A prince of the geats had killed Grendel ending the grief and sorrow. The proof of victory was hanging high from the rafters, the monster's claw, shoulder and all. After Grendel's defeat, his mother would go back to Herot to avenge her son's death. She will kill Hrothgar's closest friends and retrieve Grendel's arm. When Beowulf hears of this he pursues her. He leaped into the lake. The greedy she-wolf who’d rule the waters for half a hundred years discovered him. She welcomed him in her claws, and clutched at him savagely but could not hurt him. Beowulf then realized, suddenly, that she brought him into someone's battle hall. He swung his sword, his ringed marked blade, straight at her head the iron sang its fierce song. Her guest discovered no sword would pierce her. They wrestled, she clawed at his helmet and tore holes in his helmet and that too failed him for the first time in years of being worn in war it would be the last anyone would wear it. He tossed his sword aside and in anger went back into battle. He threw her to the floor but she repaid him with her clutching claws and held him down, she drew a dagger with dried blood and prepared to avenge her only son. Her stabbing blood was blunted by the woven mail shirt. Beowulf saw a sword hanging from the wall that was mounted by the giants, strong and blessed with their magic. He drew it and struck with all his strength. Her body fell to the floor lifeless. The noble protector of all seamen swam to land rejoicing. The Geats thanked the gods for returning their leader.

Beowulf lived on as a hero to many, and even though fifty years had passed Beowulf still felt like he could do anything without any help from anyone or anything, He was an old man already There was a dragon with treasure and Beowulf wanted that for himself and he fights the dragon. Beowulf and the dragon fight with all their strength. Beowulf said he did not want to use a sword, he had too much pride. The dragon was too strong for Beowulf to fight with his bare hands so he had no choice but to use the sword. The dragon fought back with fire and his hot breath even melted the sword that Beowulf was fighting with. Beowulf defeats the dragon but used up all his energy, he soon feels weak and not as powerful as before he’s slowly dying and asked the people to bury him with the treasure and he dies.

Beowulf fought many evil things such as Grendel, Grendel’s Mother, and the dragon who he fought until his death, he was a hero to many people. He showed he was a hero for fighting all those monsters that brought evil.
