* Greek religion was a blend of Myths and Legends that explained how things came to be and why events happen. * Ancient Greeks believed that gods and goddesses controlled the lives of human and beings and always interfered in them. * They believed that spirits live within the landscape, water caves and mountains. This is known through the use of Myths and Legends * The two sacred books were the Theogony by Hesiod and Iliad and Odyssey. * The theogony described the origins of the gods and goddesses of of Olympus and how they came to be.

* The illiad and the Odyssey have been called the bible of the ancient Greeks.

They were full interactions between humans and Gods. * Greeks built many temples for their Gods but didn’t worship in them. The people instead offered a sacrifice at the front of the building. Most famous temple is the 12m high statue and temple of Parthenon. * Every family had a private shrine inside their own house where they offered daily prayers and a libation of wine.
