so we should get rid of this situation, only focus on our goal and do their best. He also taught the players how to play in the team and how to work together. For instance, tom Cruz unable to did 2500 push-ups and 500 suicides, other players did help in push ups and other activates. He made a strong team and provides the experience of achievement and failure because they can learn from it and eventually, they can win the game, perform in the team rather than individually. During competition matches, he always assigned a role and responsibility to every player, for instance, who pass the ball, who puts into the basket and who defend the ball. Eventually, he gets in his job and his team reached a peak point.

Ethics:

Ethics is knowledge of moral and values. Ethics means correctness and do work in life the correct way and also ethics teach us about moral values in life. In this film cater instilled moral values in his players. He inspired his peers to call him 'sir' and behave with respect and talk in the same manner every time when they meet the first time. He taught his students to bring discipline in life, to maintain a discipline in life, he made some rules, he fixed basketball practice time at sharp 3 who came late after 2.55, got punished with push ups and suicides, even his son came late in gym in first day and did not make excuse just because of father-son relationship, got punish with 1000 push-ups. He made a contract in which everybody maintains 2.3 GPA in his academics and also perform well in the game. If they are, they unable to meet requirements, they cannot play game. The Main purpose behind the contract that everybody gets admission in college and lives a better. He always inspired his students to take front in class and wear a shirt and 'tie'. He always talks about respect. At first, nobody respects the coach but eventually when they realized his coaching methods then everyone showed respect. He cared more about the boys passing the classes with higher grades rather than only winning the game. The main goal of the coach was trying to ensure that everybody enjoys crime-free life. He always gave more emphasis on education over winning the championship. He inspired the boys to make a strong bond and perform in team rather than individually and taught them to be 'we' instead of 'me'. When some peers received low grades, he locked the gym and punished the whole for not getting the good grades. Many people opposite his decision even players and their parents because some parents argued with the coach that their son was away from city gangs just because of basketball. But this step taken by coach brought positive effect in players and they maintained enough grades an opportunity to enrol in college increased. The players of Richmond won 5 college scholarships and 6 players went college.

Leadership effectiveness:

Carter had the different type of leadership traits such as honest with his team, great communication skill, self-confidence for bringing change, to give inspiration to team and respect. Coach Carter used administrative principles approach. Three application of the approach to doing work; discipline, the divide of work and unity of direction seen in this movie. firstly, he successfully maintained discipline in the team. Discipline shown during the court was held when Carter locked the gym because his players did not fulfil his expectations and did not maintain enough grade in the study. Carter said if boys are unable to meet the requirement of this simple agreement how would they face real-world problems and become responsible citizens of the country. At the end, Carter was successful to teach them discipline lessons through the contract. secondly, he divided the jobs according to each player strength. This evident that where he decides who was responsible for three point shot and how should pass the ball. For instance, Carter choices the Cruz for three-point shot because of his ability. Carter used management theory which leader should choice his team member according to their speciality. Last but not least, unity of direction means achieve a common objective. Carter made strategy to win the game and every player had to followed and executed the plan. Unfortunately, they lost the final match but they became a real champion in their life.

Contingency theory:

Fiedler contingency theory best fit coach carter because he cared about the relationship, task structure and position power. In this theory, leader should change his leadership style according to the situation. Coach changed his leadership style according to the attitude of players with him and surrounding. At the starting of film, Carter gave less freedom and right to his peers but at the end, he improved the relationship with his players and gave more freedom when they were mature and became more responsible. He used his power like the leader when locked the gym and encouraged his student towards study. coach clarify the goal and objective of team regards to game and study. he changed the attitude of players towards him and towards the school and hone the basketball skills.

Personal leadership development:

Key lesson in your life:

1. It is necessary to have passion and dedication to sports in life but education is most dominant because it sharps the mentality of the person and makes a good decision taker. 2. For instance, if youngster does not care for their senior, they may indulge in crime activates.

Apply in your job:

1.you always work on time with planning instead leave on tomorrow. For instance, I have worked in an auto industry in India, but due to lack of planning, I could not complete the task on time, after realizing the power of planning, now I can able to do a task on time. 2. do not work for short term goals always focus on long term goals. 3. improve your communication skill and develop good ethics value such as respect, attitude and behaviour in the workplace. 4. always be ready to confront the difficulties and push out yourself from comfort zone because problems develop the wisdom in person and every person should learn from their mistakes in future.

As a project manager:

1.as a project manager I should understand the power of team instead of work alone. Coach Carter put his job in risk because of the better life of his peers. 3. be lifelong learner. 4.remains clam in a difficult situation.

About Movie "Coach Carter"

“Coach Carter” is a movie from 2005 by Paramount pictures and it is directed by Thomas Carter. It is based on a true story, in which head basketball coach of Richmond High School, California, Ken Carter made the headlines in 1999 for benching 15 players of his undefeated team due to very bad academic performance.

This action is known as the lockout, but this action was very criticized by the Richmond High School, the players' parents, the city, and media commentators. Ken Carter maintained that his athletes must take their studies seriously, so they could get access to college and other opportunities later on in life and the community’s opinion eventually changed when they started to see his reason, and after he was praised for his determined emphasis on prioritising these good values for his players.

The movie is about Ken Carter, a successful sporting goods store owner, who accepts the job as a basketball coach for his old high school in the poor area of Richmond, California, where he was an elite athlete. As much dismayed by the poor attitudes of his players as well as their very bad performance on the court, Carter sets about to change both. He immediately imposes a strict regime typified in written contracts that include stipulations for respectful behavior, a dress code and good grades as requisites to being allowed to participate. The initial resistance from the boys is soon dispelled as the team under Carter's tutelage becomes a undefeated competitor in the games.

However, when the overconfident team's behavior begins to stray and Carter learns that too many players are doing poorly in class, he takes immediate action. To the outrage of the team, the school and the community, Carter cancels all team activities and locks the court until the team shows acceptable academic improvement. In the ensuing debate, Carter fights to keep his methods, determined to show the boys that they need to rely on more than sports for their futures.

You should not only see this movie because of the basketball, that is just a bonus you get, but you should see this film if you like to see films about people who make a difference. Ken Carter makes a difference to some poor players without hope in their lives. The team starts out whit no hope or dream about getting in to college and the team got no unity. All these things plus many more are Ken Carter trying to change. So if you like to see youngsters with a poor life getting a new chance in life, you should differently see this movie.

This movie could sound kind of boring, but it actually is not. This movie has a lot of moving moments and inspirational speeches and scenes. Is not only moving moments, there are also action in it, on the basketball court, but also in their life example one of the boys is a drug dealer and his uncle get shot.

Timo Cruz: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. You are playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
