In this entire quarter, our main topic is regarding to sustainability. I had learned more about sustainability through different class activities, like group discussion, watching TED talk, film, reading articles and rope course. Sustainability means to be continuing to the future, and have fresh air, clean water, plenty of food, protect the human health and environment. It mainly divides into two aspects: business and environment.

Sustainable business is a new term for me, I never thought of business can relate to sustainable.

Organic food, fair trade, green product are the examples of sustainable business, it is maintaining a profit but also reducing the impact to environment. We watched a TED talk about the company of Interface, they used high technology to reduce using natural resources and reduce the harm. In addition, sustainable of environment mostly talks about the pollution from burning fossil fuel and the shortage of resources. It is affecting the developing countries and 3rd world countries; they don't have a consummate system to protect their home.

Lastly, it's back to us, while we are destroying and polluting the planet, our health is affected. In this topic, lead me to think deeply and concern more about sustainable. This problem is affecting us seriously; corporations, government and everyone have the responsibility to solve it. I may change my life style, reduce consumption, and travel the public transport instead driving a car and recycle. We should have a balance between developing economy and the environment.

The most impressive class activity is rope course.

I learnt the skills of communicating with others, listening to different opinions and try to find out which one is the best. People from different countries or gender may not have alike thought, because of different culture and life style. Communication is the most important thing through group work. By learning about sustainability, I may choose classes that relate to sustainable. I will choose the geography and meteorology class.

It is because they both will talk about climate change, pollution, and geography will have a globalization class. In my point of view, the classes will include more details about the process and the result of not to be sustainable. Lastly, sustainability inspires me a lot in designing a building or architect. Being sustainable in society, we have to live in a sustainable surrounding, like green building in Seattle, Bullitt Center.

Nowadays, the goal of design not just only concern the outlook is beautiful or not, but also the deep meaning and about green. People start to care about green living. Design can lead them to further. In conclusion, I love this topic so much. It helps me to know more about what is happening in the worldwide, other than that, I can introspect what lifestyle I am having now, is it sustainable enough.
