The house on Mango Street probably Sandra Cisneros most famous work to date. The Storyteller an adapted introduction from that book explains how her roots and family play a role in molding her in to the writer she is today. She writes in a way were it puts you in the mind of the character and how her thoughts work. Cisneros tend to write literature about her Mexican- American roots. She's having difficulty making herself and her dad happy. Her father beliefs of what a woman should be and do are clashing with her beliefs, she does not want to be a weather TV girl as her dad suggested.

To be recognize as a good writer, Cisneros tries to write in a way were anyone can admire them, were any one can understand, for people who don't read often or don't have time to read. She wants to make it easy to ready as she said "a book that can be open at any page and would still make sense", but she still want to be respected as a writer. Seems to me that living arrangements are very important to her because it essential to her to write and we know that her writing is the most important thing to Cisneros. It seems like she might be calling San Antonio her new city of residence. She is lured by back the very affordable rent compared to Chicago.

She is looking for a home to create a space to reinvent herself. "The world we live im is a house on ire and the people we love our Burning'. A powertul statement by CIsneros. I believe she intentionally made ita metaphor to create more of an impact on the reader. To me this quote figurative means that there is a lot of problems in the world. They could be anything from like racism, poverty, political issues, war, or environmental issues. The people we love or society might not notice what is going on in the world so they are just burning. Cisneros might also relate to what she's been talking about Mexican tradition, were woman don't leave the house until they are maried. She fears there is plenty of Mexican woman who are unhappy with their lives but are afraid to do anything out of the ordinary fearing they will dishonor their family.

Also she might be trying to declare the hardship of growing up by yourselt figuratively speaking.1 think botn isnerOS and her readers connect to her very well because we live in parallel worlds. I don't know exactly if her quote might mean this but this is my interpretation of he quote. I think that Cisneros as a write intentionally wrote this quote in this way to let the reader decide what it means and how they could apply it in their lives. There is one event in my life were I can relate. It was when I was about to finish high school and my parents wanted me top work so I can bring in money for the house. I having grown up ina different environment, didn't want to do that. I told my parents I was joining the military and of course they were opposed to that idea. I was kind of like Cisneros were I wanted to do my own thing and break free from the ordinary.

Eventually joined the military but felt bad in a way for leaving my family behind. I sure Cisneros felt bad for leaving the house and not visiting her family but she had other priorities as so did I think that us both Cisneros and I are from Mexican-American have a lot that we can connect to. Also from being from the same city, and how our parents are very similar makes it really easy for me to relate to her and her experiences. The story matters I believe it speaks to a lot of young people. Youth can bea scary thing especially if you don't know where you are going. It can be harder if you don't have a role model. I believe this can help readers to find themselves. A large message of this short story is to let readers know to do what you love.

Find something that you love to do, It's important for Voung adults to find their purpose in live per say. Don't let small speed bumps in the road stop you from what you want to accomplish, follow you dreams. Sometimes when doing what you love you have to make sacrifices, even maybe suffer. Another important message is she encourages readers to explore the meaning of the experiences she explains in her stories. Take what you want from it and use it to better you self. The storyteller has a bittersweet view of growing up in a barrio in the city of Chicago.

Think the storv has some fiction to it. I believe Esperanza is not her but maybe a collection of experiences and stories she has encounter or heard over life that she can identify with. Maturing into an adult can be one of the great experiences in life. It sets the path for the rest of your life. A time to discover vourself. abilities., likes and dislikes, what vou are comfortable with, and what inspires you. I want to thank you for you time to read my in depth response and consideration.
