Ole Edvart Rlvaag was born April 22, 1876. in a settlement on the island of Dnna. just south of where the Arctic Circle cuts the coast of Norway. Receiving very little education in Norway, Rlvaag traveled across to America where he moved to Sioux City, Iowa and entered Augustana College, a grammar school in South Dakota.
