Lebron James Essay
Lebron James was born on December 30, 1984 in Akron, Ohio. He went to St. Vincent Junior High School. When he was there they had a student verses teacher basketball game, and he decided to sign up. He was really tall in junior high, and he figured out that during the game he could dunk. Turns out that he was a lot better at basketball than he thought he was. He attended St. Mary High School. He was on both the basketball and the football team, and he was very good at both. In both his football and basketball careers n high school he was always one of the best players. Everyone knew he was very good at football, because he was compared to Randy Moss when he first got drafted into the NFL.
Lebron was getting more coverage from ESPN in basketball than he was in football. He chose to focus on basketball because teams from the NBA were even thinking of drafting him straight out of high school. The 2003 NBA Draft was coming up and out of all the teams in the NBA the Cavaliers wanted Lebron the most. The Cavaliers started losing most of their games and ere trying to be the lowest ranked team in the NBA so that they could get the first round draft pick because they wanted Lebron so much. The 2003 NBA Draft ended up coming and Lebron got drafted first round by the Cavaliers. Ever since Lebron James has been drafted in the NBA he has stuck with the Cavaliers and has never been traded. In Lebron James’ rookie year he was voted rookie of the year for his outstanding skills on the court. During the second year of his NBA career he was voted to play in the NBA All-Star game.
In this years 2008 Olympics Lebron James also helped Team USA to win a gold medal in basketball. Lebron James is still young and has many years until retirement, and until he retires he can still accomplish so much more in his NBA career. I choose to write about Lebron James because I already new about him, but I wanted to find out more because he is such a great basketball player. The thing that I found most interesting about Lebron is that he played football and he was really good, that the Cavaliers started loosing games so they could get a first round pick in the draft because they wanted Lebron so much.
I also learned that he was good friends with Sebastian Telfair, who was a point guard for the Boston Celtics in 2007. Lebron James is definitely worthy of a biography because he is an outstanding athlete. I enjoy reading about basketball players because I play basketball myself. I never knew that the Cavaliers lost games on purpose to get a first round draft pick, because it was so important for them to get Lebron James on their team. Anyone who is good enough to be drafted straight out of high school at eighteen years old, is worthy of a biography.
