The router is an expert computer or network element connected more than one network running software that allows the router to move data from network to another. It does this by storing the addresses of all the networks to be able to communicate with them and to control the internet and the LAN (local area network) traffic. The internet is global system connecting computers all over the world that used standard internet protocol called TCP/IP.
I am going to talk about it few lines later. Internet use wires, cables and satellites as interlinked to transfer the data from computer to another; the major internet communications links are called the internet backbone. It is made from extremely high speed connections to link larger amount of network and nodes together around the world. When you connect one of the computers in your company (VJ Edibles) to the internet, you don’t connect it directly to the internet backbone.
You connect it to an ISP (Internet Service Provider) that charge your company monthly fee for the internet access like Virgin, Sky and Talk Talk and give you software and user account. To be able to communicate with the ISP you need computers with modem to connect the computers at VJ Edibles to a phone line. When you connect to the internet that makes your computers visible to any computer on the network and that makes your company in need to special security (firewall) to site between the network and the computers to control which computer can connect to you and which server they can used.
Several types of firewall products are available, but I recommend the proxy server to your company because it provide each PC in your company with means to hide your home IP address from the rest of the world. By connecting the PC to the proxies’ server you will prevent your IP address by showing the IP of the proxy. And this can provide the PCs at VJ Edibles with more privacy. Now I am going to describe to you what is the TCP/IP (Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)? They are two protocols made to allow computer communication around the world.
The TCP part has to do with the verifying delivery of the packets. The IP part refers to the moving of data packets between nodes. TCP/IP software is built in to the all major operating systems like Windows, Mac and UNIX. IP protocol is an example for the packet switching protocols, it is a program used by some computer networks to deliver data across a local or long distance connection. This data are specially formed unit called (packet) and it send exactly the same from the source to using network switches and outers. Each one of these packet contains the sender address information identification and the intended recipient, using this address, routers and net work switches define how to transfer the packet between hops on path to the finally destination. IP address is a combination of numbers separated by full stops e. g. (123. 456. 789. 012) and it is impossible to memorise these numbers the DNS (Domain Name System) translate these numbers to domain names to identify in which country or organisation the computer located.
