Ukrainian Schools Essay

In Ukraine children start going to school at the age of six or seven. It depends on their parents’ desire. Pupils attend primary school during four years. Then they attend secondary school. There are a lot of children in every school, that’s why there’re several classes, for example A,B,C. There are from fifteen to thirty-five pupils in every class. They can study a lot of subjects there: Math, English, P. E, Music, Geography and others. In most cases pupils start school at 8 o’clock in the morning. In big cities they can start at 9. There are from four to eight lessons every day, it depends on the age.

Pupils don’t study on Saturdays and Sundays. Pupils can get marks from one to twelve for their studying. In some schools they must wear uniforms. Primary pupils can stay at school and do their homework with their teacher’s help but as for secondary pupils, they must do it themselves. Ukrainian pupils have holidays four times a year: in autumn, winter, spring and summer. Summer holidays are the longest. To my mind, school is very important step in children’s life, so parents must take an active part in their children’s school life.
