My project is about the Solar System. The Solar System is made up of all the planets that orbits the Sun. The Solar System consists of moon, comets, asteroids, minor planets, dust and gas. Everything in the Solar System orbits or revolves around the Sun.
The Sun contains around 98% of all the material in the Solar System. The larger an object is the more gravity it has. The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. After the sun is Mercury, the innermost planet in the Solar System. It also is the smallest planet and it orbits the most eccentric of the eight planets. Venus is the second planet from the Sun. The planet is named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty. Earth the third planet is the denest and the fifth-largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. Mars the fourth planet and the second smallest planet, named the Roman God War is often described as the Red planet. Jupiter the fifth and largest planet in the Solar System. It is a gas giant with mass one-thousandth that of the the Sun but its two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in the Solar System. Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest planet after Jupiter. Saturn is named after the Roman God, its astronomical symbol represents the God’s sickle.
Uranus is the seventh planet. It has the third-largest planetary radius and fourth largest planetary mass in the Solar System. Neptune is the eighth, last, and farthest planet from the Sun. It’s the fourth largest planet by diameter and the third largest by mass. Comets are often known as dirty snowballs, and consist mainly of ice and rock. When a comet’s orbit takes it close to the sun, some of the ice in its central nucleus turns into gas that shoots out of the comet’s sunlit side, which the solar wind carries outward to form into a long tail. Short-period comets that complete their orbits in less than 200 years are thought to originate from the disk-shaped Kuiper belt, while long-period comets that take more than 200 years to return are thought to come from the spherical cloud.
