I am a senior undergraduate student pursuing my Mechanical Engineering in D.V.R college of Engineering and Technology affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (a Pioneer University in India). My career objective is to pursue research in the field of Energy Sources; therefore I wish to pursue graduate study in Energy Management. In the following paragraphs I have given a brief description about my academic background, objectives in pursuing graduate study and my career goals.
In my school days a few Science Fairs and Seminars were the events that triggered an inclination towards science in me. Since then my innate strength has always been Mathematics and Physics & I opted for the same in my 10+2 level. I was placed in top 10% of approximately 2, 00,000 students who took EAMCET-2005, a state wide common entrance test for aspirants seeking admission into various engineering courses. With personal interest I have taken up MECHANICAL Engineering as my undergraduate major as I believe it has tremendous potential to become a dominating force in this millennium affecting all walks of life. The four years of undergraduate study broadened the range of my knowledge; it has given me a valuable insight into practical aspects of study. I have acquainted myself with various subjects in my field, like Engineering Mechanics, Thermo Dynamics, Kinematics of Machines, Dynamics of Machines, Thermal Engineering, Metallurgy, Non Conventional Sources Of Energy, Heat Transfer and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
As per the academic curriculum I have completed the course work in various Mechanical labs. I am strongly interested in Thermal Engineering lab, Heat Transfer lab, Fluid Mechanics lab, Computer Aided Design lab. Upon this interest I started working towards designing and developing equipment that could successfully charge the cell phone batteries using wind as the source of energy rather than using the conventional electricity. I have presented a paper on the Non Conventional Sources Of Energy in my college where I had received a tremendous response from the students and a lot of encouragement from the professors. I have also completed a mini project entitled “Development And Improvement Of Casting Techniques” along with my classmates.
Having interest in these fields in particular I have decided that I should acquire practical knowledge to the broadest extent. So I prefer to go for higher studies abroad to an esteemed University. After researching thoroughly the website of your University, I have selected your University as the place for me to pursue my Master’s degree because I found that the graduate program in ENERGY MANAGEMENT there would provide me an ambient atmosphere, supported by an eminent faculty, which are very much conducive to my fields of interest. The research areas Fuel Cells attracted me the most. I found the Hybrid Technology to be very interesting and would like to be a part of the excellent research programs there as a research assistant.
Field of Interest
My fields of interest range over a wide spectrum of areas. However, I am especially fascinated by RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES. From my Literature survey I found out that an extensive research is being carried out in these areas and I find the results of them awe inspiring. I am confident that my undergraduate study has provided me sufficient knowledge of fundamentals in order to take up anyone of these as my specializations in my graduate study.
Activities beyond curriculum
My interest beyond the curriculum included a variety of fields from teaching to organizing events. I believe that imparting knowledge is an enjoyable and satisfying experience. I have a reason to be confident of my abilities as a teacher. I gave home tuitions to a few students of a nearby school in subjects of Math and Science for two years. I have enjoyed giving ideas, delivering lectures and making presentations on technical/non technical topics at college and at various educational institutions during the past three years. I have been successful till date in delivering lectures effectively and stimulating my listeners too. I have been in resonance with my peers since the day I have joined the institution and even maintained a close contact with my juniors. This was an interesting experience which I feel would stand in good stead in the future.
I can aver that I possess in me an ever-burning desire to amass technical skills and a prolific aptitude for teaching. I derive satisfaction from dedicated work and firmly believe that dedication, deference and diligence are the surest means of reaping the benefits. I have the ability to work individually as well as in a group being a cheerful person with optimistic outlook. I was appreciated at times for handling difficult situations during the technical events in college.
Five years from now, I envision myself well positioned; conducting research, widening my scope with passing time, and giving me utmost satisfaction. The path to success is an arduous one, but I believe that I have it in me the motivation and necessary perseverance to embark upon it, no matter how many difficulties I may face along the way. Please consider my genuine interest in this field and enable me to take a step forward in this direction by granting me an admission to your University. I promise that I will live up to your expectations. Looking forward to a period of symbiosis at your University.
I thank you for sparing your valuable time in giving me an opportunity to express myself.
