1. How do Mckercher’s Fundamental of Truths affect your views on Tourism Impact? It really affects my views a lot because at first, I only knew all the advantages of the tourism industry that it will have an impact for the common good of the economy and of our country. It changed my perspective because these things are hidden; rarely to be discuss by others because it does not affect tourist but by some means greatly affect the locals residing from the tourist attractions. Having a government like now which is very lax and corrupt, those truths are inevitable to happen and it will occur repeatedly until we destroy our resources. These were the truths of Tourism but we are blind to see it, we chose not to see it and we are selfish for that. For me, all the blames will eventually end up to the government because they are the ones who have the authority over tourism sector and they should know how to control it. It is somehow true that our government is very dependent in the Tourism industry.
They focus their attention too much that they forgot other sectors that will actually aid our progress as a well-improved country. In which, is very disappointing and now we are experiencing scarcity and inflation most of the time. My outlook about tourism had greatly changed since I read it and it is so disheartening to realize these things because I believed that it can really help the growth of our country however, our government is so useless that they did not do some actions. Moreover, we tend to abuse our resources and in the end, nothing left for our next generation. My views as of now, is that tourism is one of the factors that can help build up an economy and a nation with the helping hand of the government. The government should balance the other sectors because not all money can come with tourism but we just need more improvement to achieve a refine country.
2. To what extent do you agree with Mckercher’s Fundamental Truths? To rate it 1-10, I say it would be seven because these were the reality that we are unknowingly experiencing. No more sugarcoating that the tourism has more benefits where in fact there is so much hostility that our community encounters. I hate to break it but we just need more and more development and planning in this industry. I strongly agree to his study, yes, it is hard to believe these things but come to realize it is really happening. I surely agree to his opinion because this is true not as it is exact but he has a point and his point is to make it known to others by influencing them. He influences me; it is some kind of an ugly truth, very disturbing but it speaks the reality. We can surpass those things only if we have the will to pursue to have much better planning and development by our government but still we are stagnant, waiting for the change. It will not be that easy but at least we do not abrupt the locals to changes and as a citizen we should be more concern about it. I just hope that our government will be more responsible, observant and concern especially in our locals because they are the ones who are prominently had the negative impact in the dilemmas of tourism industry.
