Jane’s Wonderful Achievement

Honolulu, May 14: Elliot F. Gerson, the American Secretary of Rhodes Trust, announced yesterday the names of the applicants who had qualified for the Rhodes Scholarship this year. “This puts a lot of pressure on me to do great things and represent the state of Hawaii, but I’m proud to take on that responsibility,” stated an overjoyed Jane Doe, a 22 years old HPU senior who became the first HPU student to be selected as a Rhodes Scholar. IMLS Funded Cohorts Scholarship

I have always believed that having been born in a family where I was the least noticeable of the children played an important part in determining my perception of self actualisation.  Though I cannot claim to have lacked in parental love or attention, being sandwiched between the first and the last born had the effect of developing a die hard spirit in me.  In my short term memory I can think of a lot that I have wanted to achieve; though I have achieved most of them the IMLS funded scholarship presents an opportunity to attain the most important of them; education. The scholarship is a gesture I really appreciate whole heartedly. I do forward…

My schools of interest include Juilliard, Colombia, and Dartmouth. I am not the first in my family to go to college but I am apart of the first generation. My parents are from Jamaica and never fully completed their education. I’ve always had to make the most of financial aid and luck. My parents are definitely not rich but we’ve always found ways to pay for what we need. My sister just enrolled at Cornell University almost entirely through financial aid and merit based scholarships. I feel as though…
