Rizal’s Poem Essay

4. Sa aking mga kabata
This poem tries to awaken the Filipino Youth, to love our country and respect people. It also tells the significant role of the youth for the betterment of the country. At eight, he composed his first poem in Tagalog, Sa Aking Mga Kababata (To My Fellow Children). The famous poem was a nationalistic endeavor to encourage Philipinos to adopt Tagalog as their language. Supposedly, it was written by Rizal at the age of 8 or 9. However, there are serious critiques of the poem alleging that it was not written by Rizal, certainly not at such a young age.

‘Through education, our motherland receives light’ is part of the poem by Jose Rizal. The idea behind this statement is that the success of the country is on whether the citizen receives education. This is because education shapes the values, knowledge, and skills of a person. There seems to be a strong correlation between a strong spiritual community and the strength of their education. This is likely because of spiritual people will likely try to get an education more than an atheist. Also richer families tend to be more spiritual and of course a richer family can afford a better education. 6. 3. Awit ni Maria Clara

In this poem it expresses the love for the native land. The experience of living in one’s own country to the comforts felt from a mother’s presence.

6. My Retreat
He describes the surroundings of his place of exile in Dapitan. He reminisce his past, and he mention his desire returning home.

7. To the Virgin Mary
It tells the gratitude for whatever we have is a powerful prayer or calling.
