My purpose in writing a research paper on the legalization of marijuana is to educate the public about the, pros and cons of the use of marijuana, and why it would be good for our economy. In this research paper I am also going to touch upon the facts and myths of the effects of marijuana and how comparable is it to the casual use of alcohol; and why it was illegalized in the first place. What is the real truth? My reasons for choosing the topic of legalization of marijuana are simple. I am here to debunk the myths about the cannabis plant, change how people view pot and the people that smoke it, and why it needs to be legal. I am very passionate about this subject because I too enjoy smoking it and have for the past twenty three years, and I fully believe that it has more positive properties than negative ones.
The audience that I would like to aim this towards is those that insist on demonizing this very beneficial plant, as I said before I would like to educate the public on what the real facts are about “weed” Most people that I know that are against weed, only know what the government has pounded into our brains over the years about how pot is bad and “it’s the gateway drug” or that they have never smoked pot themselves. What I would like to accomplish by writing this research paper is to take the ignorance out of the subject of marijuana. My position as a writer is simply to state the facts, and also project my stance on this controversial issue.
Why or why not should we legalize marijuana? What are the repercussions if we do? The legalization of Marijuana is one of the most controversial issues of America today, and although some states are adopting the legalization for Medical Use Only; it is still prohibited by the Federal Government and has been for about the last 70 years. Not only is Marijuana a beneficial plant with medicinal properties, but the legalization of it would also benefit our way of life and our economy.
