Multicultural competence is the ability to appreciate, value, interact with and benefit from difference cultures. Cultures are group with a common outlook. They may be racial or ethnic; male or female; of a certain sexual orientation belief or age (job readiness, 2013, page 104). You will always see in this world multicultural competence because every judges everybody. Before I was born there was a lot of problems with diversity. People were not created equal and they were punished for what they looked like.
We have a lot of history story when people wasn’t created equal. I am going to touch base on two of the stories that I thought you should think about. The first story goes along with a women named Rosa Parks for standing up for what she believed in. The first four rows of seats on each Montgomery bus were reserved for whites. Buses had “colored” sections for black people generally in the rear of the bus, although blacks comprised more than 75% of the ridership. The sections were not fixed but were determined by placement of a movable sign.
Black people could sit in the middle rows until the white section filled; if more whites needed seats, blacks were to move to seats in the rear, stand, or, if there was no room, leave the bus. Black people could not sit across the aisle in the same row as white people. On the day of December 1 1995 Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving her seat up for a white person to sit down. Then later that year the U. S civil right movement was pasted giving freedom to all people. The next story happened around the same time as Rosa parks. This stories is a lot worse than the first story.
Have you ever read the story about the Holocaust? During the first part of this extermination 1,500,000 Jews and other people were murdered by military groups which rounded them up and shot them. Gradually the emphasis changed to concentration camps, where the prisoners were worked to death as slave laborers, and extermination camps, where they were murdered in the gas chambers. The most famous of these was Auschwitz, which was both a labor camp and an extermination camp. About 1,300,000 people perished at Auschwitz; approximately 1,000,000 of those died in the gas chambers.
This story is still told today and it shows how diversity didn’t exist. In today world we still go through diversity but it wasn’t as bad as the old days. When I think about multicultural I think of race and nothing else. It doesn’t just involve race also involve if your poor rich, you’re religious. There are a lot of homeless people in this world we need to get involve and try to help them. They need love just like we all do sometime they feel not worth anything. Every living soul is worth everything to me. I just wish everybody has the same view on people as I do.
Some people in this world view people as a piece of trash you can just walk on. I want to tell you a story that nobody knows about me when you first get to know me. I never tell anybody about this because it hurts me to talk about it. You will run into people that have the same problem as me. When I was a baby my dad was cheating on my mom so never grow up with him. When I turned around 8 he rejected me and then when I was 14 I moved in with him and he beat me a lot. I would cry everyday but then I got older and realized there are people that had the something happen to them.
That next year I was raped and the guy was my father. I was about 16 years old and now I am so shy and scared of people because of all this. Don’t judge me or anybody by the way I act and look I am special just like everyone else in this world. I chose this topic for my paper because my grandfather was in the holocaust and their lot of people that need help. People that have a disability and homeless, foster kids they all think they are not worth anything. Nobody loves them and every week I try to help someone in need. Think about your life and how you wish that your life was better.
Some people thinks life really sucks and has a lot problem but nobody will help them in their day life. People stare and make fun of them because they look so different but for me were the same. In conclusion remember everybody got 5. 5 litters of blood I am just human being for me everybody the same. Everybody need loves every day and someone to care about them. Multicultural competence teach as to love everybody know matter the situation. The life my suck more and more than yours but everybody has their own trails. Remember make sure you keep everyone equal when u are dealing with a patient and just the world.
