Claude Monet is credited as being the, “initiator, leader and unswerving advocate of the Impressionist style” (Nicholas Pioch, Webmuseum). Monet’s advocacy for the Impressionist style grew out of the inspiration to paint outdoors that he gained from his mentor, Boudin.
