After taking this test I was very surprised by my grand type. My grand type was “Upward Mobile Analyst-Technical Expert. ” This was a surprise to me as I have never looked at the parts of work that I enjoy as the technical side to things. Overall I do agree with this designation as I always want to learn as much as possible about the job at hand. Also I do like to typically know a lot of information about a job before I attempt to complete the job. I would also say that it is very much my personality to have many of the traits listed.
I feel that many of the personality traits described were right in line with my personality and who I am. One of these traits was that I have a positive attitude about things. I tend to always try to look at the positive things rather than the negative in any given situation as I am always hoping that by doing this I will be able to accomplish more. Also I am an ambitious person who always tries to accomplish goals and is not afraid to attempt to try new things.
Another thing that was said in the analysis that I agree with is that I am not typically good at working in groups and that I do not typically enjoy working in groups as I do not like to have to rely on anyone else in order for me to do a good job. I did agree that I am able to express and communicate well with others when jobs are being discussed and that I have the knowledge to know how to communicate appropriately. There were many parts of the personality profile that I felt were correct about who I am however there were also parts that I did not feel matched how my personality is.
Some of the things that were mentioned in the profile that I do not agree with are when the profile stated that I was the type of person looking to “climb” the corporate ladder as I am not interested in moving up when I go to work but rather just go in and do my job. I also did not agree with the fact that the profile stated that I am often bored during meetings. Even if I were bored during a meeting I would still attempt to show respect and be interested in what was being discussed. I really believe in being respectful in all situations.
I did not feel like this was expressed in this part of the personality profile as it talked about how I would need to learn how to not offend other during meetings. I also do not agree that I have a higher sense of learning through visual perceptions. I actually typically find it harder to learn when there is a lot of information discussed visually as I tend to learn better either hands-on or by listening. Although I did not agree with some of the things that were mentioned about my personality type they did challenge me to think about the perceptions that others might have of me.
Some of the things that I did not feel were accurate about my personality type did force me to think about how others could perceive me. For instance even though I might be trying to pay attention and act interested in something when I am not, I do think sometimes my body language far outweighs what I am saying and causes me to have a negative reaction from others. I have learned that my body language is an area that I need to become more aware of and focus more on in the future.
Also some of the other things that I learned were that I could be confident if I wanted to move up the corporate ladder and not be so afraid of failure as I have the type of personality that could excel in this area. I am going to take a lot of the things that I learned about myself and work hard to make sure that I am using appropriate body language in various situations. I am also going to work hard to learn how to believe in my own abilities and to not always doubt or second guess myself.
