My high school career began and ended in what felt like a matter of minutes. All through high school, I only imagined how I would be feeling when I stepped out of Palisade High School for the very last time. Throughout these four years, I had felt a lot of anxiety about graduating from high school. I did not think that graduation would come fast enough, but now that graduation has finally come and gone, I cannot believe that it came so fast. I remember my first days of high school like it was yesterday.
I was so ready to experience all the new and exciting things that awaited me when I walked into the halls of Fruita Monument High School. The football and basketball games, to the senior boys, and of course all the parties, I just wanted to know what everything was going to be like for a naive freshman like me. When I transferred schools as a sophomore, I was so terrified because I had already made my friends. I transferred to Grand Junction High School, and it was an inner city school. People did not care how they acted.
There were drugs, fighting, and I was not able to handle that because it was nothing like Fruita. I ended up only being there three days, and I transferred right back to Fruita Monument High School. As my junior year quickly approached, I realized that Fruita was no longer the school for me because I was being accused of things just because I had gone to Grand Junction. I ended up transferring to Palisade High School because my cousins both went there, and my parents and I knew that the adjustment was going to be so much easier.
I quickly made friends and grew to love maroon and white. My senior year came and went in a blink of an eye. As I walked out of Palisade High School, I knew that one chapter in my life was closing and another was beginning. Now that I have done all of those things, and so much more, I was about to leave high school forever. I was also about to move onto a new adventure that will lead me to college where I knew that many more new experiences were awaiting me.
Some say that, “High school was supposed to be the best time of my life. ” Others say that “High school was going to be the worst time in my life. ” To be honest, I had the best time of my life in high school. I had plenty of good times, but also had just as many bad times, in high school. All I can say is that I learned lessons the hard way while I was there. I know now not just what I was taught in books, and a classroom, but also learned about life and the road ahead of me.
From being an immature freshman to a mature senior, things have really changed for me. When high school started I was a naive, ready to conquer the world freshman girl, so many dangers that I knew awaited me and that I had to encounter in the real world. Honestly, I do not know what the world out there holds for me or where I will be in twenty years, but I do know that high school is one of the many best times I am ever going to have in my life. All I can do now is enter the college world with a guarded optimism and hope for the best.
