Diverse Backgrounds Essay

The society of today is multi cultural. There are people belonging to all different cultures working and living in a single environment. There are many ethical and social rules that a person can follow to get along better with people of diverse backgrounds. This will be helpful in the communication process. The main concern with people of different backgrounds is that what we consider as polite is unethical to someone else. So, first of all it is very important to respect the point of view of others. We must accept that different people think and do things differently.

It is also important to be open-minded and un-judgmental. We should not have the image of someone being bad based on the race he belongs to. We should not critic people based on our own prior bad experiences. It is always helpful to ask questions and listen carefully to the people belonging to other cultures. This way we gain an insight on their traditions, likes and dislikes. We should learn to accept people for their character and not their physical appearance. It does not matter what type of clothes they wear, what color they are, what country they’re from. If a person is nice and sweet, then it’s all that matters.

Children should be taught that everyone is equal. It is very important to care for the culture and religion of other people. We can only gain respect if we give it to others. Both sides need to put in a little effort in understanding each other’s cultures and valuing them. These are the ways that people belonging to diverse background can live and work together for the betterment of the country. (wal4451) ? References wal4451. (n. d. ).
