This training has a main objective of giving an oral concept of “How a industry gives world class products with high quality and customer satisfaction “. This training also implements the basic effort beyond the assembling, processing and delivering efficiently by human power rather than using machineries. This training also involves how such industries provide such promising products rather than any other industries around the globe at low cost.
In this training we learn about the following sections of processing, assembling, testing and dispatching of one such industry. They are as follows, Incoming section
Production Engineering department
Production Assembly Unit
Final verification section
In this section we arrived at a point that there is only one way in for the raw materials like memory, hard-disks and mother-boards and so on. Here all the raw materials come to the working area and the corresponding representatives have an account of how many components have arrived. In this section they also provide part numbers to each and every component.
Here the representatives will arrange the entire incoming component based on their colour codes and part numbers. The excess components are sent to the ware-house. In case of larger needs the components can be taken from the ware-house. Here all the records about the components stored will be maintained physically.
Here the representatives will be having work order for the product required by the customer and will have the record of the stored components in a system using ERP software. The work order will comprise of the following
This is the section where the additional components for the future usage of the industry. This industry has its ware-house located somewhere around 4-5 kilometers south of the industry. It is generally an additional storage section of the industry.
Production Engineering Department
This section is generally abbreviated as the PED and this is the important section of the industry. Here the representatives will write a master Hard-disk based on the work order given by the consumer. Then they will use this master to write many other hard-discs for the product using special machinery called the duplicator.
The major specification of the duplicator used in this industry is to write 14 hard-discs in a time interval of just 3 minutes. The representatives will write the following in the master hard-disc and the image of those soft-wares will get copied in all other hard-disks Operating System – this will take around 20 minutes for the entire installation in the master hard-disk. To install the other soft-wares that are already specified by the consumer- this will take around another 40 minutes.
Therefore the total time taken to create a single master hard-disk will be more than or equal to an hour. The images of the above mentioned soft-wares that are getting copied from the master will thus will not be activated and it will be activated in the later sections.
Production Assembly Unit
In this section a set of representatives will assemble the central processing unit (CPU) for desktop computers. The following components will be received directly from the store section for the purpose of assembling.
Simple mode power supplies (SMPS)
In this section they will also check one fully assembled unit just by hearing a single beep sound during the start-up of the system while booting. Then they will pack the assembled unit along with a brief description of the work order and send those units to the burning section.
Here the representatives will replace the displaying name of the mother-board with the company logo using FLASH. Here all the units are connected to internet using DHCP lan’s in order to sense the Internet Protocol (IP) of the unit. IP is just unique identification number given to each and every system.
In this section they will have a heating chamber to check the temperature handling specification of the system. In this chamber they will have a facility to raise the temperature beyond certain limit and also to reduce the temperature less than 0 degrees.
Final verification section
Here there will be individual representatives for every individual system for a complete check-up whether the system is working properly or not. If the device is working properly they will send the system for the packaging unit and if the device is not working properly then the system will be sent to the repair section. This is the section where all the soft-wares along with the operating system will be activated.
In the packaging section the system will be packed along with accessory box comprising of the following
Power cords and so on.
In this section the faulted systems from the final verification section will be received and will de-assemble for identifying the fault components. Here they will not be repairing the components by soldering or any other toolkit but they will just replace the component with the available components.
This section takes full responsibility for delivering the finished products to the consumer through any means of transportation.
Thus so far we have learnt the minute effort beyond assembling and trading a product. Also we have learnt that how the products are assembled from their corresponding raw materials .We have also learnt how the industry satisfies various consumer needs. The various consumers of this industry are
